cactus coreid - Chelinidea vittiger

cactus coreid - Chelinidea vittiger
Doña Ana County, New Mexico, USA
December 25, 2005
Size: 15 mm approx.
Found this species overwintering under loose bark, although one was out on a small barrel-type cactus. All on lower slopes of Organ Mountains. In this image, the coreid has tilted its body to present its side to the camera lens, which it kept a wary eye on. I'm guessing that it was getting ready to release a defensive spray.

Chelinidea.
I'm positive of the genus, relatively certain of the species, so placing in guide pages. Nifty creatures:-)

Thanks Eric.
I'm replacing some of the pix with better ones.
