"Glad to see there are doubts! If the specimen is still available, check to see if mandibles are visible under the clypeus. I think this is an Aegialia sp."

but couldnt come up with anything else based on the images. Tom, if you have it, you can send it with the Phyllophaga.

looks good
Pronotal punctation, coloring and other features visible here are consistent with A. strigatus. Normally for Ataenius, it helps to have detailed shots of head and middle/hind tibia and tarsi.
