We had a few large Monterey Pines removed a couple of days ago (to give the live oaks more sun), and while I was cleaning up branches, I found this guy laying on the ground looking for all the world like it was dead. But because all his legs were neatly folded I suspected he might be alive so I put him in my ever ready film canister, and when I checked him later in the day, he was moving about, so I photographed him.
