My daughter and I came across
My daughter and I came across about 30 of these this morning in El Granada, CA (northern coast of CA between SF & Santa Cruz) under some pine trees after a rain. I'm not a bug person but she loved them! Glad to have found them here to satisfy our curiousity.

A freshly molted xystodesmid
A freshly molted xystodesmid millipede, identity unknown. It does not appear to be Harpaphe h. haydeniana, as the body proportions seem wrong -- it's too broad to be Harpaphe. I suspect a species of Xystocheir

Recently eclosed?
Looks like this might be a specimen that has just recently molted and has not yet achieved full pigmentation. Worth keeping these images for that reason alone.
