Goes variegatus - male

Goes variegatus - Male
Pocomoke River State Park, 38.1214, -75.4970, Worcester County, Maryland, USA
June 30, 2006
Size: 13 mm
Collected at ultra-violet and mercury vapor lights in the Milburn Landing area of the park. Described as "a very uncommon southern species" by Yanega. Not reported by C.L. Staines in his checklist of Maryland Cerambycidae (Maryland Entomologist 3(1), 1987). However, in addition to this image and the one from Baltimore County that I posted earlier, I know of two other specimens collected from Hereford in Baltimore County in June 2005 (Phil Kean) and June 2006 (Bob Gardner). All this suggests that Goes variegatus is newly and now perhaps firmly established in Maryland.
Note: You must obtain a permit to collect insects in Maryland State Parks and State Forests.
