Size: ~ 6 mm
Lone individual crawling on stem and leaves of Tall Goldenrod (Solidago altissima) in grassy old field. Color is black with brown between ridged segments and a slight "oily" sheen.

Looks like some kind of Chrysomelid beetle larva... Probably Trirhabda.

Moved from ID Request. I thought these looked familar...then I recalled working much of last winter identifying the host plants for numerous unidentified photo-specimens. (Thanks, Natalie, you and I posted at the same time!).
