I'm guessing a Formica Ant but am prepared to find out it's not :)

Moved from Ants.

Not a Formica
This is a male of Camponotus castaneus. The notable space between the base of the antenna and the posterior margin of the clypeus is diagnostic. Common at lights this time of year. Formica will fly in about a month. See this male of the lateer species at http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0103929&shot=p1&project=missouriants.

Gotta be an ant.
An ichneumonid would have many more segments in its antennae. Couldn't tell you what kind of ant, however.

I'm Thinking ...
It's got to be in the pallidefulva group, possibly Formica dolosa ... or not
