Bee with shiny gold head and thorax - Agapostemon

Bee with shiny gold head and thorax - Agapostemon
Española, Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, USA
May 26, 2010
Size: 6-7 mm?
At least, I think it's a bee. I've been curious about this metallic creature since I saw some last year.

The flower is Erysimum "Bowles Mauve". This insect (and maybe another of the same species) kept coming back to that flower.
