Orb Weaver?

Orb Weaver?
Citrus Heights, Sacramento County, California, USA

Size: Smaller than a dime

House spider?
This is a fantastic image! Thank you for sharing your talents here, Rich. The spider appears to be a house spider, Achaeranea tepidariorum. Hopefully someone will offer a second opinion, though:-) Was the spider in an orb web? If so, this is NOT a house spider.

Orb weaver?
He was outside on my lamp and I thought it might be a orb weaver that perfers metal. Someone else said they thought it might be a marble weaver. How about the other 3 -Rich

Inconclusive.
It is probably not the marbled orb weaver (Araneus marmoreus), though that species is highly variable. Without seeing the dorsal (top surface) pattern on the abdomen, we probably can't be of any more help. Reminds me slightly of Zygiella x-notata, though. Are you close to water?
