Resin Bee - Megachile - female

Resin Bee - Megachile - Female
Orlando Wetlands Park, Christmas, Orange County, Florida, USA
May 23, 2010
I'm not sure what family this bee belongs to; this is the only photo I managed to capture. I'm guessing that it is in Megachilidae. This flower head was oozing milky sap, and the bee was collecting it. It flew off shortly with a large globule (visible in the photo) of the sap in its mandibles. I would be curious to know what the bee does with the sap.

Megachile (Chelostomoides)
native resin bee female

probably using the sap for its nest lining
