Assassin?

Assassin?
Charleston, Charleston County, South Carolina, USA
May 28, 2010
Size: 1/16 inch
These were found on the wooden side of our front porch in the morning. They appeared to have just hatched from the egg cases above them. They appear to be all red with black legs. By afternoon, half of them had moved as a group several feet away and the others were missing. By late afternoon, none were left.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Coreidae, I think
compare eggs and nymphs here:

The shape of the eggs rules out boxelder bugs, at any rate.

Assassin?
Oh, these look exactly like my bugs! My picture is not as clear, but this is what they look like. I came across a picture of Milkweed Assassin nymphs that looked similar. See http://www.flickr.com/photos/carolinensis/3039876780/

I think you nailed it.

Hard to say...
They're colored like Wheel Bug hatchlings, but they seem to be shaped differently from the hatchlings in the Guide. A sharper pic might help.

Then again, someone else might recognize these right off the bat. Let's wait a bit and see.

Welcome to BugGuide!

don't think so
They look more like Boxelder Bug nymphs to me. Something more like that I think.
