Carpet Beetle - Anthrenus sp.? - Anthrenus lepidus

Carpet Beetle - Anthrenus sp.? - Anthrenus lepidus
Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
May 8, 2010
Size: 2-2.5 mm
Photographed at about 9:30 am on Golden-Yarrow (Eriophyllum confertiflorum) in Coastal Sage Scrub at the Claremont Colleges' Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station. Photographed at the same time as these other individuals:

I included a number of images because I wasn't sure if they were all the same species.

Moved
Moved from Beetles.

Just guessing, but they're probably all the same.
There's lots of variation in these. On a couple adjacent flowers, I recently shot two that looked pretty much alike, plus one way different. All turned out to be the same species. Years ago, I had two of very different sizes on the same blossom and, yeah, same species once again.

Blaine Mathison thinks so, too
Thanks, Ron!

Blaine Mathison said that they all look like Anthrenus lepidus in commenting on this image:

I had initially assumed they were all the same species, but then I saw one that looked like Anthrenus sophonisba, so then I began to wonder how many species were there. Maybe I should post the one I think is A. sophonisba, too, to check its ID.
