Euschistus acuminatus -- J. Eger det.
his comment: "a Caribbean species first reported from FL in 1983."

most welcome addition, Dave -- thanks for sharing! you know what you you have to do next: find more of them, take & post dorsal shots & any add'l angles -- they all help once the dorsal view is available

Moved from ID Request.

more pics
It's Paul not Dave but regardless here's a few more pics hope it helps.

i'm so sorry, Paul! inexcusable faux pas...
[i was composing a note to Dr Smith at the time...]

thanks a lot for adding more photos. in a followup note, Dr. Eger says about this bug, "I don't think it is very widespread. Apparently the host range is pretty limited and I haven't collected it or seen it much in collections. In fact, I wondered if it was still around."
so, great find, Paul.

Host plants
I've now seen several of these in south Florida in Palm Beach and Broward Counties, once on Solanum diphyllum and more commonly on Cestrum diurnum (both Solanaceae). It would be interesting to determine whether the species would prefer other species within those genera or family which might predict the possible eventual range.

Ok
Not a problem so the musician/photographer is now an entomologist! grin

neat bug! pls add date -- and a dorsal view, however blurry
dorsal view is critical to have most bugs, beetles, &c recognized

Stink Bug? - i'd say so
I did a little searching, but haven't found it yet. It looks similar to a couple of the predatory stink bugs.

brown stink bug - Euschistus conspersus
maybe brown stink bug - Euschistus conspersus?

i don't think that one
I did notice a couple in the Euschistus genus with some pretty big spines like yours though. This one I found in KS for example. Yours has pretty distinctive coloration, different still I think.
