Bee or Fly? - Eupeodes volucris

Bee or Fly? - Eupeodes volucris
Apple Valley, CA United States, San Bernardino County, California, USA

Size: 1/2"
These are all over my backyard and are absolutely lovely. They enjoy wildflowers and dandelions. The seem to hover in one place for long periods of time before landing. I have no idea what they are though...for your review.
Thank you-

Maybe a Bird Hover Fly
I'm not an expert, but check out . It may be a match, I was told the the cylindrical end of the abdomen on males is distinctive.
