Adult came to night light. Note unusual design in thorax. Whenever I put this slide up on a screen, the audience ALWAYS makes a comment.

Awesome, note taxonomy
Lovely photo. We did already have a guide for this species, with Thyatrinae as a subfamily of Drepanidae, and I've moved your photo there.
I am really enjoying your contributions.

Lettered Habrosyne
Janice J. Stiefel Hi Patrick! Thank you for your comments. It's really exciting to have the opportunity to share these beautiful creations with the world. I am confused on the classification of this species, however. Something must have changed. According to Hodges' Checklist of the Lepidoptera of America North of Mexica, #6235 is listed under Family THYATIRIDAE, Subfamily Thyatirinae, Tribe Habrosynini. It doesn't appear to be in the DREPANIDAE family. Can you explain the change? Thanks, Patrick.

Classification issues Thyatirinae/Thyatiridae
The
guide page
for the subfamily Thyatirinae, and for
family Drepanidae
, esepcially, give references for the incorportation of Thyatiridae into Drepanidae--not universally accepted, but followed here.
Taxonomic changes like this can be very confusing. We have a whole
forum
for discussing taxonomy issues. Amazingly, whole groups can be moved around within BugGuide without (usually) disrupting links between groups and images--this is the impressive programming accomplishment of BugGuide founder Troy Bartlett.
