Unknown Caterpillar - Battus philenor

Unknown Caterpillar - Battus philenor
Sacramento, Sacramento County, California, USA
June 6, 2010
Size: 2 inches
Biking the American River Bike Trail and there were several patches of the road where these little caterpillars were inching their way along. I had to get off my bike to take a picture and since it was quite active, I was unable to get a clear head shot. Thank you!

Moved from ID Request.

How about
Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor)?

Let's see if anyone else agrees.

Swallowtail
Given the Sacramento region, that would explain the many Swallowtails that are seen fluttering around the trail.

I've just never seen the caterpillar before! Thanks so much!

For what it's worth...
Aristolochia californica (a hostplant for Battus philenor) is definitely found in that area

Definitely looks like the pho
