The only previous US record for this striking species was a single specimen collected in 1947 near what is now Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Mission, TX by George Vogt from beneath bark of hackberry Celtis (Vogt 1949)
Three males coll'ed in 2010 at Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, Resaca Loop Trail, via. ethanol-baited Lindgren funnel trap, set: 18-V to 6-VI-2010, B. Raber and D. Heffern Col.
The modern day records were collected on the tail end of what's likely to be the last intensive beetle survey of southmost Texas for decades to come. (3)
