i think Formica
It has pretty big eyes in comparison to the rest of the head in comparison to a carpenter ant. I'd still say to wait for somebody that knows the ants to be safe. My vote is Formica for now.

Nice close-up of a Formica subsericea worker (the commonest, if not the only one, all black member of the fusca group in the South).
