Wild Cherry Sphinx Larva - Sphinx drupiferarum

Wild Cherry Sphinx Larva - Sphinx drupiferarum
Fish Creek, Town of Gibraltar, Door County, Wisconsin, USA
August 4, 2002
Larva found eating Wild Black Cherry (Prunus serotina) by Laurie and Kate Buske. Since I did not have access to Prunus serotina, I switched it to Pin Cherry (Prunus pensylvanica). It formed a pupa on August 30, 2002 and overwintered in fruit cellar. Removed pupa from fruit cellar on April 24, 2003. Adult eclosed May 20, 2003.
