A strikingly bright orange/gold/black skipper found in oak woodlands (not an urban environment where Fiery is often seen -- also a little smaller than Fiery). Nectars on thistle; appears to be a male. Sp?

Since I submitted this one I have acquired Arthur Shapiro's "Butterflies of the Bay Area" and ID'd all my skippers. I've also developed a new appreciation for family Hesperiidae, and have learned to call them on sight. You've prompted my to go back through my BG submissions and fix any that are still unidentified. (just yesterday I spotted Fiery, Sandhill, Woodlands, Umber and Checkered Skippers on a quick 3-mile walk on one of our nature trails -- good stuff!) Thanks again.
