Night of the House Centipede - Scutigera coleoptrata - female

Night of the House Centipede - Scutigera coleoptrata - Female
Fullerton (Southern California), Orange County, California, USA
May 25, 2009
Size: Roughly 2" body length
I went geocaching in Fullerton, CA roughly after midnight when I came across this little guy (or girl) in a railroad overpass. He didn't seem to like my camera, and I tried to get a picture when he was arching, but couldn't get a clear one of it. Freaked me out just looking at him.

(NOTE: AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE SPECIES, I FOUND THAT FEMALES ARE ATTRIBUTED WITH THE SUPER LONG LAST SET OF LEGS, AND THE ONES ON THIS SPECIMEN EXTENDED WAY OUT OF THE FRAME, SO I THINK THE "HE" IS A "SHE")
