Gorgone Checkerspot - Chlosyne gorgone

Gorgone Checkerspot - Chlosyne gorgone
Soapstone Prairie Natural Area, Larimer County, Colorado, USA
June 9, 2010
I think this is a cresent, but I can't find an exact match.

Moved from ID Request.

Close,
It is a Checkerspot that looks so much like a Crescent that it was once classified (incorrectly) with them. It is Chlosyne gorgone, which is fairly common east from the mountains in Colorado. The larvae use mostly Sunflowers as host plants (occasionally Iva and other Composites as well).

Thanks again, David!
Appreciate the help!
