Click Beetle - Selatosomus edwardsi

Click Beetle - Selatosomus edwardsi
1/2 mile north of Westwood in the woods, elevation 5125', Lassen County, California, USA
June 7, 2010
Size: body length 16mm
I first saw this beetle flying. I thought it might be just another of the numerous carpenter-ant queens flying about. But when it landed on a nearby tree trunk I could see the red on its pronotum. Appears to be the same as my previous specimen:

P.J. Johnson: "probably S. edwardsi, but...
"...need the aedeagus and habitat."

Moved from Selatosomus.

Habitat Info:
The habitat in this area is primarily second growth mixed conifer forest; with a fair amount of meadows. The woods have an abundance of bushes, sage brush, grasses, and other herbaceous plants growing amongst the trees. This species of click beetle is listed in a study titled "Insects and Related Arthropods Associated with Greenleaf Manzanita in Montane Chaparral Communities of Northeastern California". Plant species listed in this research article are mostly the same as here where this specimen was found.

Thank you "v" for your further help with this beetle!
