This little gal was ovipositing in a stem less than 2 feet above ground.

Diceroprocta delicata
The color pattern is distinctive, although you can't see from these photos one of the oddest features - the abdomen is orange except the area around the male tymbals, which is black. Perhaps this is a sexual feature? Our collection does not include females.

 
I have a video of a male calling....but
I don't know if it is the same species. It was found within 100 yards of where the female was ovipositing.
