Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Eulithis gracilineata (Guenée, [1858])
original combination Cidaria gracilineata Guenée, 1857
* phylogenetic sequence #211025
Wingspan 35-40 mm
A text description is needed that explains how to reliably distinguish photos of this species from the similar Lesser Grapevine Looper (Eulithis diversilineata). See sample images of both species in link below.
Do not place images here unless you have a valid reason for doing so! Adults of diversilineata and gracilineata cannot be separated without rearing or dissection.*

* The forewing measures of the Greater and Lesser essentially do not overlap (Lesser 12-15 mm; Greater, 16-19 mm). Thus, this is a case where photographs with a millimeter rule are not only useful but crucial for photo identification. Compare these images of Lesser (left) and Greater (right).

Another example of measuring the forewing can be seen on iNaturalist here.
