Apiomerus californicus? Found in weedy vegetation along riparian corridor.

Apiomerus "californicus"
Szerlip species, epithet will probably change in the future after Forero's revision is complete.

If it were mine, I'd move to Apiomerus
I think you're good on species, too, but IDs for these critters can get confusing. See: http://bugguide.net/node/view/285651#442081
