huntsman spider? - Heteropoda venatoria

huntsman spider? - Heteropoda venatoria
brownsville, texas, usa, cameron County, Texas, USA
April 28, 2009
Size: size of adult hand
sorry for the poor quality. is it a heteropoda venatoria/huntsman spider? my books show a black crescent on carapace/cephalothorax and they list the size as 3/4-7/8", meaning the carapace & abdomen?, because including legs they can be bigger than my outstretched hand. they can run pretty fast. i've always found these spiders inside the house. i love 'em, they're great at catching roaches.

Not the best pic (I tried to fix it a little) but with general appearance, size and location I think your ID is correct.

Heteropoda venatoria
you're right, awful pic--but thanks for the help.
