#8228 Unexpected Cycnia - Cycnia collaris
Oakalla, Burnet County, Texas, USA
June 11, 2010
Two of these caterpillars were found feeding on green antelopehorn, Asclepias asperula, on a private ranch in far n.e. Burnet County, representing a new county record (fide C. Bordelon). I haven't found images of C. oregonensis or C. tenera which match the orange of this critter.

Moved
Cycnia inopinatus was synonymized with Cycnia collaris.

An alternate common name?
Is it just me, or does this critter look a lot like an "orange scrub brush"? ;-)
