Liopinus variegatus - Astyleiopus variegatus

Liopinus variegatus - Astyleiopus variegatus
4 miles east of Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York, USA
June 12, 2005
Came to lit window of house at night.

Identified using Yanega book (1). Confirmed with John Chemsak. (Genus has changed since Yanega book was published.)

How big is that leaf?
Or beetle?

7-11mm
Yanega's book says these are 7-11mm, and that seems about right. I will try to measure insects in Ithaca this year (at least the cooperative ones). I can't remember what type of leaf it was on in this photo.

Excellent photo
as usual Joyce. I moved it to a new species page for you.
