That said... this is a Bee Fly (Bombyliidae). It resembles Poecilanthrax:

yes, Ken, Uvalde County at Cook's Slough...very nice 80 acre park...limitied use but more and more we are passing the word of how good it is for 'nature'....birds; bugs; reptiles and mammals...
