Explanation of Names
Neotoma is a genus of wood rat upon which these insects (and many other Triatoma) are known to feed.

Identification
The yellow corium with a black median spot is distinct among the United States Triatoma.

Range
sw TX / ne. Mex. - Map (2). Reports from CA, AZ, & NM need confirmation.
Food
Hematophagous, like all members in the subfamily. Neiva (1911) reports Neotoma micropus and N. albigula as known hosts for this insect, collected by Hubbard and H. S. Barber, respectively.
Remarks
sp. found naturally infected with Trypanosoma cruzi (3) although this species seems to remain more sylvatic than other members of the genus.
