Size?
Would help to know the size. I suspect it is the chrysalis of a "white," family Pieridae. Great image in any event.

 
Size
The size of the chrysalis is 1". It should be displayed already, you must have overlooked it. Sorry for not making it clearer :)

Jan 24/06 - Butterfly emerged from the chrysalis and was identified as a Cabbage Butterfly (Pieris rapae)
