Moved from Trichoniscus pusillus. Not sure how this ended up in T. pusillus, this animal definitely just has one ocellus per eye, as is characteristic of the genus Hyloniscus. H. riparius was introduced to North America 60-70ish years ago, and is spreading rapidly. It has been demonstrated to outcompete T. pusillus wherever the two overlap, at least in NY, and probably well outside that state as well.

Trichoniscus pusillus
Trichoniscus spp. have 3 black ocelli in each eye which can be seen here - excellent photo! The sharply tapered terminal segment of the antennae and wdely splayed uropods are typical of most Trichoniscidae. T. pusillus is a common European introduction in eastern USA, typically found in damp woodland litter.
