Microcentrum nymph?
Very fine portrait of a male nymph of what is most likely a Microcentrum species. The hind legs are much shorter than those of other kinds of katydids. This being Florida, however, cannot immediately rule out Stilpnochlora, the giant katydid:-)

size
I was reading up on the keys to Microcentrum and Stilpnochlora. It seems that without an adult size, I may not be able to ever know which it is. This individual's size was between 50 and 60 mm (recall it being slightly over 2"). I read that the Stilpnochlora will be over 65mm as adults. With this specimen not yet being an adult, could we assume that it is most likely Stilpnochlora, or would that not be an accurate assumption?

That big?
Shoot, if it was that big, probably is Stilpnochlora then. I also look for a slight bow to the hind tibia, which would indicate Stilpnochlora. Seems reasonable to move this to that genus and species page.
