Size: large fly
Seems to be Spilomyia alcimus, but some features including "V" look like S. longicornis.

Can't help with ID but...
...I did correct the location. The location read "Potomac, MD, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA" before I took out the extra MD. This happens when "Potomac, MD" (rather than just the city) is entered in the City/Location: field.
