Pair of Sulpurs - Pieris rapae - male - female

Pair of Sulpurs - Pieris rapae - Male Female
Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Illinois, USA
June 5, 2010
Size: 1.5 inch wingspan
This pair was near a fen. The minimal markings have me at a loss to identify these. The images have wings reversed, so you can see the full underside of both male and female.

This is actually a mating pair of Cabbage Whites (Pieris rapae). These butterflies sometimes have yellowish undersides, which makes them look like sulphurs.

An hour of searching sulphur images down the drain!
Well, it's a learning experience, anyway. I spotted a very similar photo here with a simple search of "cabbage white" after reading your reply. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome.
I'm glad I could help.
