Possible wasp chambers under a leaf TX mini-gathering - Pison
Bentsen-Rio Grande, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
June 6, 2010
Size: <1/2in
Found under a leaf on a waist-high shrub.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Shape?
I can't quite tell--are these compressed spheres (which would mean they're Eumenes nests) or cylinders (in which case there are a few options)?

They were cylinders.....
....and very near where I had found this one last year:

That is one of the options I had in mind...
and seems most likely, given that these were close to the other one. Spider wasps (Auplopodini) or maybe Ancistrocerus potter wasps would be other options, but the rounded shape of these nests seems to match that Pison nest best.
