Seems to be specific to tall coreopsis. Earlier instar tanish.

There are 7 annulets on abdom
There are 7 annulets on abdominal segments.
This is typical for the family Cimbicidae and Tenhtredinidae (subfamily Tenthredininae and part of Selandriinae).
It more looks like Tenthredininae than Cimbicidae Selandriinae
...but this is only my guess

My guess is Allantinae, but as far as I can tell nothing is known to eat Coreopsis.

Unidentified sawfly larvae
I've got it on coreopsis tripteris in Keego Harbor, Oakland County, MI. I agree, smaller ones are tannish.
