Zebra Caddisfly - Macrostemum zebratum

Zebra Caddisfly - Macrostemum zebratum
Dummer, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
June 15, 2010
Size: 17mm to wingtip
As I was driving down route 16 along the Androscoggin River, I thought that lots of small dead leaves were blowing out of the trees. When I got a good look, it turned out to be thousands of these caddisflies. When I stopped, they were everywhere in the grass, flying over the river, and over the road. Each sweep of the net through the grass would catch 10 of these caddisflies. I've never see so many bugs flying at the same time before.
