aphid infestation on lettuce - Macrosiphum euphorbiae

aphid infestation on lettuce - Macrosiphum euphorbiae
Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
June 14, 2010
We found them too late... The lettuce couldn't be saved. These aphids came out of nowhere and they were covering every inch of my mom's lettuce plants. All the shed skin was on the soil and they were all over the leaves. I pose the question: How do aphids travel up a house to a balcony two stories up to find a lettuce plant??
