ichnuemon? - Esagonatopus niger

ichnuemon? - Esagonatopus niger
Swannanoa, Buncombe County, North Carolina, USA
June 18, 2010
Size: about 2.75mm
in grass- at first when my brother showed it to me I thought it was a Pseudomyrmex, one of my brother's favorite ants. we found it while methodically searching for the nest of some ants we had caught sweeping the grass. We found some very interesting insects while doing so, but we still haven't found the ant nest. once I looked at it under the microscope i saw it wasn't an ant, and now I'm stumped as far as what it is.
