Ripiphoridae, dorsal - Ripiphorus walshi - male

Ripiphoridae, dorsal - Ripiphorus walshi - Male
Woodman Hollow, Webster County, Iowa, USA
August 22, 2009
Size: 5 mm
Sweep net collected.
I just went back to measure the length of the beetle (I can't believe I didn't post the photos when I took them), and the antennae are no more. There are no signs of Dermestids in the drawer (thank goodness) but oh, the antennae are gone.

Very nice!
Glad you took these wonderful shots while antennae were still intact.
