Superb
Shot of the month. Even though you waited, what, three months to show us? Nice.

It was a tough wait!
Thanks for the comments guys.
I had a hard time waiting to get these online, but I was very picky about determining the ID first.
NONE of the three Zygoballus species known to North America are documented very well with photographs of living specimens. After trying for several months to find a pro to help ID either my photos or actual specimens, I finally forked over the cash for an MP-E 65 and was able to get decent photos of the palp.
I'm currently working on a few other species, but I sure wish I had saved more subjects instead of releasing them.

Zygo
Only two of the species would be likely in Ohio. But, you are right, finding detailed info for species requires obtaining technical papers which often have no photos.

Zyggies
All three are on our
state list
, but I have no idea where or when those were recorded, how common each of them are, or if all three species were accounted for in our latest spider survey completed a couple years ago.
It's interesting that such a well-studied spider family can still have many species that are lacking in good, recent documentation.
