Identification
Adult: Pale straw-colored FW is evenly striated with faint brown lines between veins. Darker brown central streak ends at black-edged white reniform dot. PM is a complete row of tiny dots. (1) NOTE: In darker specimens, the discal dot is the same color as the rest of the wing and accented with dull black. a

Leucania amygdalina, formerly treated as a synonym of L. linita in the 1983 Hodges Checklist, is raised to full species status in Lafontaine & Schmidt (2015) (2). It replaces L. linita in southern NJ to Canada and west to IL and IL. There may be overlap from southern NJ to NC. Dissection or DNA is required for separation. - Lafontaine & Schmidt (per. comm. 9/7/2017)
