Size: est 7-8mm
Right after landing. Took off again right after the shot, so can't provide any other angles.

Gonipterus scutellaris Gyllenhal A Eucalyptus weevil from Australia, rarely collected in CA and thought to be not established there.. Common in Southern SA., Argentina Uruguay.

Wow, many thanks for the ID Dr OBrien.
Always happy to find something new and rare for BG, but at the same time, after reading the article =v= linked to on the info page, I cant say that I look forward to meeting it again! Apparently it is a major Eucalyptus pest and hopefully it wont become well established here in CA any time soon.
