Dasychira sp. tussock moth - Dasychira basiflava - male

Dasychira sp. tussock moth - Dasychira basiflava - Male
Lanark, Ontario, Canada
June 19, 2010
Thanks to Bob P. for the ID.

Based on description in Covell, this then seems likely to be a female, as it lacks any brown and lengthwise streak is present:
FW usually darker brown, with yellowish brown in basal area (especially in males). Median area grayer, whitish toward costa. ... Fairly broad lengthwise streak present in some specimens - more often in females than males.

Moved from ID Request.

Probably 8296 - Dasychira basiflava
Handfield records it for Quebec, Ferguson mentions it at Kingston, Ontario and shows a form much like this in the MONA fascicle on Lymantriidae. (no rsvp, thanks)
