Probable Eyed Click Beetle - Alaus oculatus
North Salem/ McCloud NAture PArk, Hendricks County, Indiana, USA

Size: 1 1/2 inch long
I was walking in the woods when this insect flew into me, then fell to the ground. When I tried to move him, it seemed as if he were "playing dead." He did not move at all!

Alaus oculatus
though they live in wood i don't think they bore into it- these are predatory i think
