Sminthurides aquaticus
Hi Kim. This little fellow looks like S. aquaticus. Those little white specks that jump away onto the water surface of small pools most often covered by duck weed. Often accompanied by the dark blue Podura aquatica.

Springtail
This is a springtail, i believe one of the globular springtails. To my understanding these arent "true" insects...they are entognathids (spelling?)...is this right?

I agree with Andy on the ID, and that many authorities agree that springtails are "non-insect hexapods." Also agree with Lynette that this is a great shot:-) Looks like another "Natural Moment" entry for Natural Hisory magazine waiting to happen.
