A very solitary wasp - Tachytes distinctus - male

A very solitary wasp - Tachytes distinctus - Male
Irvine Regional Park, Orange, Orange County, California, USA
June 25, 2010
This one was flying solo amid many sand wasps, which were circling and sporadically entering burrows. Those smaller wasps are posted here: .

I can't figure out where the larger wasp fit into the picture. It showed no aggression to the smaller wasp, nor did it attempt to enter any of the burrows.
