Earwigs Revisited

Earlier I posted a very detailed and voluminous list of information on the Order Dermaptera in our area, but there was only one part of it that needed attention in this forum:
Currently we have the family which includes the genera Labia, Vostox and Marava under the name Labiidae. According to the best references* I know of that are easily available, I believe it should be Spongiphoridae. I believe we're using the Earwig Information Centre as our default taxonomic reference, which would itself settle the issue, but I thought I should check here before making the change.

The complete names (adapted from Engel & Haas 2007):
  1. Family Spongiphoridae Verhoeff, 1902a
  2. Family Labiidae Burr, 1909b

Suggestion
Due to the fact that many common references still use Labiidae (e.g. (1)), I would suggest using a format such as "Spongiphoridae (=Labiidae)" if this change is made.

I don't think that would work
Taxon names can only contain letters and hyphens. The taxonomic situation will be described in the Synonyms and Other Taxonomic Changes field, including both names..

If V is for it, we're for it
though you probably prefer comments from people who actually know something about it! :)

i think that would be Chuck :)
and the flattering comment perhaps should be reworded as "If Engel is for it, we're for it"
He is a great taxonomist, very particular about getting the nomenclature right, too.

this should be no doubt implemented in the guide
thanks for summarizing the matter here
